Sometimes the right move is to wait.

A business preparing to relocate received an IT infrastructure proposal from its managed service provider, with a recommendation to order and install the equipment promptly.

The equipment itself was generally appropriate, with a few adjustments. But the new office was about to undergo major renovations—walls, flooring, possibly ceilings—and move-in was still months away.

The recommendation: align cabling, wireless access point placement, and installation with the construction timeline, so the infrastructure fits the finished space instead of being disturbed, damaged, or reworked along the way.

Sometimes the best technology decision is to rethink the process entirely.

The situation

A client's employee was spending roughly 10 hours every week turning incoming PDF reports into an Excel-based KPI dashboard.

Open the reports, find the relevant figures, key them into Excel, build the charts, format the tables. It worked—but it consumed more than a full workday every week.

A different approach

What if nobody needed to touch the spreadsheet at all? We designed and built a lightweight web application where the original PDF reports are simply uploaded.

AI extracts and organizes the relevant data and produces the same charts and formats the team already relied on. Each upload adds to a growing history, so the team can now explore trends that used to live in separate, hand-maintained spreadsheets.

I've spent my career working with technology, the people who build it, and the businesses that depend on it—across infrastructure, systems administration, DevOps, software architecture, and enterprise technology environments.

One thing I've learned is that the best technical solution isn't always the newest, most expensive, or most complicated one. It's the one that makes sense for the business.

I started Mastera Works to give businesses access to experienced technology guidance without the expense or commitment of a full-time technology executive.

Sometimes that means reviewing a proposal or challenging a recommendation. Sometimes it's planning a major project, designing a new system, or building something from scratch.

Whatever the situation, my job is to help you understand your options and make decisions you can feel confident about.
